Piano and Theory

For all ages and levels

We offer courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced students. Lessons offered include practical piano, music theory, and harmony, as well as ARRANGING for live and electronic bands and orchestras. The student will be trained in reading music, playing by ear, and developing accompaniment styles. 

Musical Curriculum

Dr. Burr specializes in teaching both the discipline of accurate music reading AND improvisational playing. To do this he uses original piano teaching materials, as well as well-known popular systems including the Faber Piano Adventures, John Thompson Piano Method, Bastien Piano Basics, and Alfred’s Basic Piano Library.


Special training in reading Lead sheets and chord charts

Unique to A Plus Tutoring Music and Arts is the special training offered by Dr Dan Burr in Contemporary Musicianship. This equips the student to play piano and keyboard in in the role of an accompanist, as well as playing in bands, church music teams, groups and combos; where one must follow chord charts, or lead sheets, creating improvisational piano accompaniment.
